Backstage beauty from New York Fashion Week: Prabal Gurung

Backstage at Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation winner (and my latest designer crush) Prabal Gurung’s Fall 2010 Fashion Show, MAC Cosmetics makeup artist Kelly filled me in on the “super surreal skin” and “matte, minimalist lip” that comprised the beauty look.
A new, yet unreleased product rumored to be hitting the market in 2011 was also used: strobe liquid liner, which Kelly said dries down more than the strobe cream for a more naturally luminous quality.
“We’re taking a model’s natural highlights and pumping them up,” she said. This was achieved using MAC pigments in Vanilla and White.”
For eyes, Soba eye shadow was lightly washed over the lid, and a little clear gloss was used on top. “I really wanted that to have a kind of androidy feel,” Kelly said.
Cherry lip pencil and red pigment were used on lips, with no gloss or shine. “It’s a very natural shape, soft lines.”
