It’s sad but true that many women do not embrace their own appearance. Whether it’s picking apart the way their lips are shaped or hating the skin they were born with, unhappiness with their mirror image is rife within women today. Bobbi Brown aims to reduce this as she has just launched the ‘Pretty Powerful’ campaign which aims to make women recognize and accept their real beauty. The idea is to destroy the cookie cutter stereotype of the Barbie doll portrayed in the media, and let women become empowered by their own bodies.

The campaign celebrates the diversity of the female form and features real-life women instead of models on allt he material. Brown has chosen six women from various walks of life to star in the campaign.

“Models are certainly beautiful, but they represent such a small cross-section of women that it’s unrealistic to expect everyone else to conform to their standards,” explains Brown. “I think women can gain a lot of confidence by seeing realistic, beautifully natural images celebrated in the media. Lines are proof that we’ve lived life. We get them when we show emotion, when we laugh, and when we express ourselves. It’s also really important to live in the present.”

With sentiments like these I can only hope that this campaign is a real success. More material will be available from the 1st March and in the mean time you can check out Bobbi Brown’s products here.
