They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover and the same should really apply to beauty treatments- apart from when a product looks like it’s starring a Blonde Omen style Damian. I’m not sure I care how this fragrance is with a creepy kid staring at me from the box, and the resemblance to Macaulay Caulkin really doesn’t help. Even more worryingly, this product is targeting boys and tweens as its dynamic, saying it’s a ‘ flowery blending of citrus, youthful and fresh notes.’ Get me out of here!

L’Occitane Citrus Verbena Summer Fragrance

This scents is one of my all time favourites for the fresh feeling it evokes. It smells sweet and invigorating and is a great morning pick me up. Light enough for daily wear, this scent makes one feel energized and excited, like you were going to a picnic.

SJP always comes up trumps with her fragrances as they rend to be heady concoctions with a myriad of lovely notes at the base. Covet combines a lovely mix of Honeysuckle, Chocolate, Lavender, Lemon and Amber.

Jo Malone for Women Grapefruit

I love Jo Malone scents as they’re very distinctive and new notes appear hours into wearing them. Her Grapefruit fragrance isn’t strictly lemon, but it still falls into the fresh citrus family. Grapefruit is the over-riding scent of this perfume, with hints of spiciness and a citrus dry down.

An unbelievably chic, fun cocktail ring containing the warm floral bouquet of Marc Jacobs Lola. The lush scent conveys the free spirit of today’s sexy, modern girl — she is playful, cool and flirtatious. The 10-time Grammy Award nominated diva is launching her first fragrance, and no surprise at The Beauty Quest; it’s called Heat.

“My fragrance is a unique expression of a woman’s powerful sensuality,” says Beyoncé Knowles. “The scent thrills and enthralls, drawing you in. At the same time, it is elegant and feminine with an air of mystery. I created this fragrance for self-assured women everywhere, for women who are not afraid to desire and to be desired.”

So what does a global icon smell like?

The scent – set to launch in department stores in February – is a mixture of red vanilla orchid, magnolia, neroli and blush peach mixed with a heart of honeysuckle, almond and musk. The drydown leaves notes of giant sequoia milkwood, tonka bean and amber on the skin.

“I’m so happy with it….I’ve been working on it for a while now,” Beyoncé told WWD. “A lot of my performances have had fire involved, so we thought ‘Heat.’ Also, red is one of my favorite colours, as is gold,” the songstress said of the bottle, which has an antique-meets-modern vibe and is designed to look like it’s on fire.

I hear the tv campaign will be equally hot; the songstress will silk across the screen in a liquid satin gown singing a whispery version of “Fever” that’s directed by Jake Nava, who also shot the “Single Ladies” music video. “We wanted the ads to be really steamy and dewy,” says Beyoncé. “My sexiest moments are when I’m just getting out of the tub or the shower and I’m clean.”

Something tells me this is a fragrance your man will be happy to pick up as a Valentine’s Day gift.

Now If Only The Price Of The Fragrance Actually Included A Bag, Now That Would Be Fabulous.
